Gipsy Hill and Portobello Brewery at The Bike Shed
Unlike most hospitality venues, The Bike Shed has never had the option of an underground beer cellar. So instead we use tanks. A neat solution and one which we actually prefer.
The three copper tanks you see above you house two iconic London beers from two big-name local breweries: Hepcat session IPA from south London's Gipsy Hill Brewing Co and London Pilsner from west London's Portobello Brewing Co. The beer is transferred from their breweries to us in vacuum-sealed tanks, meaning the beer served into your glass is as fresh as it can be.
Hepcat burst onto the craft beer scene a decade ago and is one of the best-known British beers of its style, easily recognisable by its distinct orange hue and loved for its intense citrus and stone-fruit flavours. Portobello's London Pilsner is classic pilsner, brewed in the German style with at least six weeks of cold fermentation in tank at their brewery in W10.
